Lavender Poetry by Mackenzie Butts | There is not enough lavender in my garden to wash away the ache of tired bones. I thought selling out was supposed to be easy. Thought peace of mind was bought with money. Turns out, the price of living is the same as wasting away. Today, should have been the last day, should have walked out with my integrity tucked tail between my legs. Tomorrow, I will choose bills, choose loved ones, choose common sense, over happiness.

Poetry – Lavender

Lavender

There is not enough lavender
in my garden
to wash away the ache
of tired bones.

I thought selling out
was supposed to be easy.
Thought peace of mind
was bought with money.

Turns out,
the price of living
is the same as
wasting away.

Today,
should have been the last day,
should have walked out with my integrity
tucked tail between my legs.

Tomorrow,
I will choose bills,
choose loved ones,
choose common sense,
over happiness.
