Wine Drunk Poetry by Mackenzie Butts | Wine drunk is to sleep with windows open, eyes lit with giggles, our lips and laughter heady. Wine drunk is tangled tongues and tangled sheets, tangled thoughts, and midnight melodies. Wine drunk is too warm for embracing, too panic ridden, is to sway like sinking ship. Wine drunk is too full for making space, is sea floor and sobbing, is purging tears, and vomit, and waste.

Poetry – Wine Drunk

Wine Drunk

Wine drunk
is to sleep with windows open,
eyes lit with giggles,
our lips and laughter heady.

Wine drunk
is tangled tongues and tangled sheets,
tangled thoughts,
and midnight melodies.

Wine drunk
is too warm for embracing,
too panic ridden,
is to sway like sinking ship.

Wine drunk
is too full for making space,
is sea floor and sobbing,
is purging tears,
and vomit,
and waste.
